“By the second quarter of 2008, the nation’s fourth-largest solar power facility will be operational at a 16.5-acre facility adjacent to the GROWS landfill in Falls. Once the Exelon-Epuron Solar Energy Center is up and running, the approximate 16,500 solar panels — with a little help from the sun — will generate 3,700 megawatt hours annually. That’s enough electricity to power about 400 homes, which trails facilities only in California and Arizona in production, officials said. ‘It’s a little power plant in and of itself,’ Exelon spokesman Tim Brown said Thursday as Gov. Ed Rendell joined elected officials and representatives from Exelon, Epuron and Waste Management Inc. in announcing the clean energy initiative.” (08/31/07)
