“Congress has taken a step toward greater fiscal responsibility by eliminating a $21 billion tax package from the new energy bill. Our own Tennessee senators, Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, helped bring this about, and they deserve our thanks. Maybe now, we can start working on getting our energy problems under control — without robbing U.S. taxpayers. As a member of the National Taxpayers Union, I am always happy to see our government embrace minimal tax policies. To me, it’s simple — the money we make belongs to us; the government should let us keep it. The less tax we pay, the more money we have to spend, and our economy benefits as a result.” (01/31/08)
