Forget oil

“I was born in the Oklahoma oil fields, worked 40 years in domestic oil exploration, found some 14 million barrels of oil, and am still active as an independent geologist. Unlike many energy ‘advisers,’ I know the business from the ground up — literally. As a 9-year-old during World War II, I pumped two wells on my bicycle. I rough-necked on drilling rigs in high school and drove trucks for Halliburton to finance college. I have done it all. So when I tell you that world oil production is about to peak, you can believe it. And you can rest assured that I am no ill-informed ‘greenie.’ Another Oklahoman, Will Rogers, said it best: ‘We’re the only people to drive to the poor house in a Cadillac.’ For 100 years, we have experienced growth and prosperity unique in human history, all fueled by cheap energy.” (02/27/06)
