“The young people singing and acting in full costume could have been professional child actors or a drama class at any school around. But the students rehearsing ‘A Christmas Carol — The Musical’ in Atascadero on Wednesday were in fact a unique theater group made up entirely of home-schooled students. The musical theater work, based on the classic holiday story by Charles Dickens, features 21 actors ranging in age from 6 to 18. They all study exclusively with their parents — except when they are in drama class. According to the county Office of Education, there are 820 home-schooled students in San Luis Obispo County.” (11/30/06)
