“The good news: Arizona patients no longer top the nation when it comes to how long they spend in the emergency room. The bad news: The average visit to an Arizona emergency room takes 5 hours and 37 minutes. That’s according to a study released Wednesday by Press Gainey Associates Inc., which asked patients to estimate how much time they thought they spent at their emergency-room visit…. Arizona ranked 48th out of the 50 states. Last year, the state came in last with the average emergency-room visit lasting 4 hours, 57 minutes.” [editor’s note: More on this story, and fuller analysis of the survey, in next week’s MFC editorial - SAT] (06/28/07)
