“Balancing on a ladder nearly 8 feet above the cobblestones of Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Daniel Forlano juggles for the crowds many a night. A fall could lead to serious injury, but Forlano does not worry much about that. Understated confidence is part of the comedy act. At 31, he has been without health insurance for about a decade and cannot remember the last time he saw a doctor. He has heard vaguely about the state law taking effect today that requires every adult to have insurance. But he has tuned out the specifics. ‘I didn’t want to pay for insurance earlier, so why would I pay now?’ he said.” [editor’s note: The only thing wrong with this is, he “cannot remember the last time he saw a doctor.” The failure to at least get periodic checkups is a major factor in ending up with a surprise ailment, too late for a cure. Meanwhile, by engaging in hazardous behavior, with no regard for at least some “safety net,” this idiot is just an accident waiting for others to pay for it! - SAT] (07/01/07)
