RI: Tenants sue over mercury spill

“Tenants of a Pawtucket apartment complex are suing New England Gas for allegedly failing to clean the site, which was contaminated in 2004 with mercury that vandals took from a nearby storage shed on the company’s property. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of more than 80 people, seeks another clean-up operation for the mercury spill and more tests to be financed by New England Gas. Plaintiffs say the October 2004 incident has caused them physical injuries and emotional distress. The company’s lawyer, Gerald Petros, said no further clean up is necessary.” (03/24/06)
