Jonathan Gullible Reaches
The Quarter Century Mark
by Ken Schoolland
excerpted by Jim Elwood
ISIL director Ken Schoolland's award-winning libertarian fable The Adventures of Jonathan
Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey has achieved yet another milestone in its international journey. It has just been published in
South Korea, making 25 languages in which book versions have been printed!
Many thanks go to K-mee Jung, who performed the Korean translation and was able to
get the prestigious Moonwhamada publishing house to produce it as a commercial project. K-mee is now translating Ken Schoolland's
other book, Shogun's Ghost: The Dark Side of Japanese Education.
There's lots more news. Ken just issued an extensive "Jonathan Gullible Update", which is
available on the JG website at www.jonathangullible.com. You can also link to all the international publishers via the site.
Thanks to the World Wide Web, translations can now be made available on websites as an interim
measure while print publication is being pursued. Three additional Jonathan Gullible translations are now on-line. These are
French -- translated by Louise Zizka of Canada, Kiswahili – translated by ISIL Kenya Rep James Shikwati, and a mostly-completed
Somali edition by Faisal Hassan. Also, translations of the second edition of Jonathan Gullible are up in Russian and Romanian
(those two first-edition books are out-of-print). Translations of the current third edition are in progress in both languages for
web publication, while funds are needed for print versions.
Another important website is ISIL Serbian Rep Tomislav Krsmanovic's Balkan libertarian site. Kozeta
Cuadari just reported that the Albanian JG is now up there, joining the Serbian, Gypsy, and Slovenian editions. Existing
translations in Croatian and Macedonian are due up soon, and new projects in Bulgarian and Montenegran are being pursued by
Tomislav.
Back to books, the Kyrgz translation by Zarina Osmonalieva is complete and will soon
be published (with ISIL's help). The Swedish translation is complete, and a commercial publisher is being sought. ISIL Indian Rep
Barun Mitra has completed the Bengali translation, and will publish it soon. In Pakistan, Dr. Khalil Ahmad has completed the
Urdu translation, and is ready to publish pending funding.
Estonian, Finnish, Nigerian pidgin English, Cebuano (regional Philippine language), Piedmontese
(regional language in Italy) are all in the process of translation. Janette Eldridge has almost completed a special annotated
English edition for South Africa, and has found a translator for Afrikaans.

Several of the Jonathan Gullible projects listed above need outside funding help
to get printed. Please lend your most generous support to ISIL's Jonathan Gullible Fund
(tax-deductible in the USA) to keep this remarkable progress going on around the world!
