Jonathan Gullible Reaches 40 Mark
The last few months have seen another spurt of progress in the international spread of ISIL director Ken Schoolland's award-winning
educational fable The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey. The book has now been published in 40 languages!
The new editions are:
Steve Cobb (l) and Ken Schoolland pose with the Esperanto edition of JG at the ISIL Prague conference.
ESPERANTO: At the ISIL Prague conference, Steve Cobb presented the new Esperanto edition of Jonathan Gullible
he had translated and published. There are apparently several million Esperantists around the world, and they tend to be highly-educated and independent thinkers, so
Steve thought they would make a good market for outreach. The foreword was written by ISIL member Fred Foldvary of the
Civil Society Institute at Santa Clara University. Steve also produced an Esperanto version of the hugely-popular "Philosophy of Liberty" flash animation (a summary of
the principles in Jonathan Gullible), which is on the ISIL website at www.isil.org/eo.
Bosniak edition of Jonathan Gullible .
BOSNIAK & MONTENEGRAN: ISIL's heroic Serbian Rep Tomislav Krsmanovic has
been quite active in publishing projects over the years. This summer he produced new editions of Jonathan Gullible in Bosniak and Montenegran, and also an
updated Serbian edition. He had previously arranged editions in Croatian, Macedonian, Slovenian, and Romany (Gypsy), and had assisted in the Albanian edition. These
projects, plus Mary Ruwart's Healing Our World in three Balkan languages, and Serbian editions of
Ayn Rand's Anthem, and Karl Hess's Capitalism for Kids, all
organized by Tomislav, were all funded by ISIL.
Slovakian edition of Jonathan Gullible .
SLOVAKIAN: Immediately following the ISIL Prague conference, Ken Schoolland traveled to Bratislava for the launch of The Adventures
of Jonathan Gullible in Slovakian. The translation was performed by Branislav Opaterny with the
F. A. Hayek Foundation. A multi-media theatrical production of Jonathan Gullible is being prepared in Slovakia by
Martin Bican (Vice-Mayor of the town of Trencin) and Matus Posvanc of the
Hayek Foundation.
SOMALI BOOK: A book edition of JG in Somali has just been published by Faisal Hassan in Toronto, Canada. He had earlier arranged a serialization of Jonathan Gullible in Hanad magazine. The book will be distributed in Canada and back in Somalia. A public book launch at York University was held in Toronto on November 22nd. Local libertarians, including ISIL member Jim McIntosh spoke.

ARABIC TRANSLATION: Nicholas Dykes (UK) arranged and funded this
translation into Arabic. Economics professor Ali Massoud of Egypt (who attended the Prague conference) edited the
translation. He reported that he is producing draft copies of the book for his students while they seek a commercial publisher in Cairo to pick up the book.
POLISH UPDATE: An updated Polish edition, with especially beautiful artwork, was organized by Krysztof Haladus (who attended Prague).
Boss serialization of Jonathan Gullible .
JG & THE BOSS OF NEPAL: We're pleased to announce that The Boss business magazine of Kathmandu, Nepal has been
serializing The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey on a monthly basis since September. This is the commentary edition produced in
cooperation with Janette Eldridge and Barun Mitra. The Boss is a
superb publication with powerful free-market articles relevant to any country. Check out the Boss Website!
PAKISTANI APPLICATION OF THE JG STORY: Dr. Khalil Ahmad, ISIL Rep for
Pakistan and president of the Alternate Solutions Institute in Lahore, Pakistan reports:
"A light essay (The Tortoise and the Hare Revisited) based on the story of Frank and Lysander in the Urdu translation of Ken Schoolland's The Adventures of Jonathan
Gulible: A Free Market Odyssey recently appeared in Faraan magazine (Issue 57, 2005) the publication of a public-sector college (Government Islamia
College, Civil Lines, Lahore, Punjab). The story helped expose, in fable, a form of local rent-seeking. Dr. Khalil Ahmad, who earlier handled the translation and
publishing of the Urdu book edition of JG, is a Professor of Philosophy in the same college, which has about 5000 students and more than 150 teachers.
Philosophy of Liberty Flash Animation
The hugely-popular flash animation based on Ken's book is now available on-line in sixteen languages! Romanian and Ukrainian are the
latest, and more are being added rapidly. To accelerate the project, ISIL provided Mario Knezovic of Germany $1000 at the
Prague conference to purchase sophisticated flash-animation software. A great deal of credit is due to Mario for having re-engineered the "Philosophy of Liberty" flash
animation after the untimely death of creator Kerry Pearson a few years ago (the original programming files had been lost ). Steve Cobb has hired and funded an
assistant – Dmitry Shevchenko of Russia – for much of this work.
Important! Funding these numerous projects to spread the ideas of liberty to young people around the world has depleted the ISIL
Jonathan Gullible Fund.
Your contributions (tax-deductible in the USA) are welcomed to help continue this important work.
