The International Society for Individual Liberty (ISIL) is an association
of individuals and organizations dedicated to building a free and peaceful
world, respect for individual rights and liberties, and an open and
competitive economic system based on voluntary exchange and free trade.
ISIL currently has members and representatives in over 100 countries.
Members and affiliated organizations pursue our goals through independent
action, using their own freely-chosen strategies. The association exists
to promote the exchange of information and ideas, to study diverse strategies,
and to foster fellowship.

ISIL World Conference
Sicily
August 29 - September 2, 2011
We are delighted to announce that the International Society for Individual Liberty is returning to the international libertarian conference scene. ISIL had organized pioneering annual world conferences from 1982 through 2007 in numerous European locations, plus North America, Costa Rica, Swaziland, and New Zealand. These conferences played a major role in creating networks, businesses, educational organizations, and publishing projects. (And even international marriages!)
The Italian Students for Individual Liberty is co-hosting this 2011 ISIL World Conference in the spectacular seaside resort town of Vulcano, in the Aeolian Islands just north of Sicily. Dates are arrival and registration on Monday, August 29, three days of conference, and departure on Friday, September 2nd. Or you can stay on for a wonderful 3-day post-conference boat tour of the glorious nearby islands.

Help Students to Benefit from the ISIL Conference
ISIL has sponsored hundreds of students, mainly from the ex-communist countries, to the recent conferences. The students, who could otherwise not hope to afford the conference, have benefited greatly from the speakers and by meeting international libertarians. Many have gone home full of ideas and inspiration and have formed organizations and publishing projects, or become teachers and organizers of the Liberty English Camps for youth education that have also been supported by ISIL.
Our goal for Sicily is 50 students. More if we can afford more. We expect a contingent from the inaugural Albanian Liberty Camp, being held just ahead of the ISIL conference. Plus some from Italy, eastern Europe, and around the Mediterranean. The students are responsible for their own travel, and must pay at least a token registration. No such thing as a free lunch!
Each scholarship still costs us $600. We seek to raise $20,000 to bring in all these young people.

ISIL president Ken Schoolland's charming fable The Adventures of Jonathan
Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey tells the story of a
boy from a libertarian land who gets shipwrecked on a statist island and is
shocked by the strange customs. Each tale illustrates a principle of

LIBERTY YOUTH CAMPS
For over a decade, ISIL has supported dozens of youth camps in Lithuania and other East European countries.
Through ISIL's global network, the camps are now being organized in Africa and Asia.
Liberty Youth Camps teach the principles of liberty and entrepreneurship to foreign high-school and
university students, while improving their English skills. Many graduates teach or organize subsequent camps.
Many graduates of Liberty Youth Camps also go on to start libertarian organizations in their countries.
Graduates are also going go on to hold important positions in business, education and government -- with the
promise of becoming libertarian leaders of their countries.
